COUNCIL CHAMBER, 990 PALM STREET SAN LUIS OBISPO, CALIFORNIA ROLL CALL: Council Members Present: Council Members Bill Roalman, Dave Romero, Dodie Williams, Vice Mayor Kathy Smith, and Mayor Allen K. Settle City Staff: Present: John Dunn, City Administrative Officer; Kim Condon, Assistant City Clerk; Ken Hampian, Assistant City Administrative Officer; Ann Slate, Personnel Director PUBLIC COMMENT There was no public comment. STUDY SESSION ' 1. ORGANIZATIONAL VITALITY ( File No.) Council considered a status report from the Organizational Vitality Committee on its activities. John Dunn, City Administrative Officer, explained why the City was engaged in the Organizational Vitality program and what it hopes to achieve. Ann Slate, Personnel Director gave an overview of the programs components and objectives. Ken Hampian, Assistant City Officer, shared perspectives on change from other communities and organizations. Mark Williams, Public Works Inspector, said he had learned a lot during his attendance at a conference in San Jose on transformation in City government. Sharon Lininger, Parking Enforcement Officer, learned what changes and improvements other cities are making at the San Jose conference. Diane Stuart Community Development Department, and Paul Takagi, Computer Systems Technician, read the key values of the Organizational Vitality Program. Peggy Mandeville, Associate Planner, presented the ten key values identified by employees participating in OVC sessions. ' Tim Girvin, Utilities Conservation, outlined the value assessments and critical areas of need identified by participating employees. City Council Meeting Thursday, June 18, 1998 -12 Noon Page 2 Dave Smith. Building Maintenance Supervisor, outlined the key initiatives being considered as a result of the OVC sessions. Don Maruska, Consultant, interpreted the results of program to this point and the direction we need to take in the future. During discussion, Council agreed that this is a valuable and worthwhile program that they could all support. There being no further business to come before the City Council, Mayor Settle adjourned the meeting at 1:00 p.m. to Tuesday, July 7,1998 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber, 990 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo. Mayor Settle declared a recess to convene in open session in the Council Chamber, where. a public report of the action taken in closed session was to be given.
