HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-05-2014 HRC MinutesHUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION (HRC) MINUTES REGULAR MEETING March 5, 2014 5:00 p.m. 990 Palm St – Council Hearing Room CALL TO ORDER: 5:00 PM PRESENT: Chairperson: Hillary Trout (arrived at 5:10pm) Commissioners: Robert Clayton, Janet Pierucci, Ivan Simon, Michelle Tasseff, Ronald Tilley ABSENT: Vice Chairperson: Louise Matheny STAFF PRESENT: Greg Zocher, Human Resources Manager; Monica Irons, Human Resources Director Commissioners agreed by consensus that Commissioner Pierucci Chair the meeting until Chairperson Trout arrived. CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES: ACTION: Moved by Clayton/Simon to approve the minutes of February 5, 2014 as amended; motion carried 5:0 (Chairperson Trout not present for vote). ______________________________________________________________ PUBLIC COMMENT No public comment. BUSINESS ITEMS Item 1. MEASURE Y PRESENTATION (IRONS) Irons presented Measure Y information. Item 2. REVIEW 2013-14 GRANTS -IN-AID (GIA) MID-YEAR REPORTS (TROUT) Commissioner Pierucci reported on Noor Foundation, In House Medical Lab/Supplies; United Cerebral Palsy, Raised Boxes; and Alliance for Pharmaceutical Access, Improving Access to Prescription Medications for SLO City Residents. Commissioner Tasseff reported on Big Brothers Big Sisters of SLO County, Youth Mentoring; Food Bank Coalition of SLO County; Senior Brown Bag/Harvest Bag Distribution to SLO Residents; Senior Nutrition Program of SLO County, Serving Hot Lunches to Seniors County Wide; and Transitional Food & Shelter, Emergency Shelter for Medically Fragile. Commissioner Tilley reported on Achievement House Inc., Hydroponic Nursery; and Alpha Pregnancy and Parenting Support, Emergency Baby Food and Formula. Chairperson Trout reported on One Cool Earth, Garden Matchmaking; SLO County AIDS Support Network, AIDS Homeless Prevention and Supportive Housing Program; SLO County AIDS Support Network, Hepatitis C Project – Access to Health Care Benefits Counseling; SLO County YMCA; After School Enrichment Programs – ‘Healthy Kids Club’ & ‘Club Y’; and CAPSLO, Forty Wonderful. Commissioner Simon reported on Court Appointed Special Advocates of SLO County Inc., CASA Advocacy; Assistance League of SLO County, Operation School Bell; and Options Family Services, Diabetes Training. COMMISSIONER COMMENTS There being no further business to come before the HRC, Trout adjourned the HRC meeting at 6:00 p.m. to the regular meeting scheduled for Wednesday, April 2nd at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Hearing Room at 990 Palm St. Respectfully Submitted, Greg Zocher, Human Resources Manager
