Perez Speaker, California State Assembly State Capitol Building, Room 219 Sacramento, CA 95814 RE: AB 639. Veterans Housing and Homeless Prevention Act (As Introduced) NOTICE OF SUPPORT in Concept Dear Assembly Speaker Perez: The City of San Luis Obispo is supportive in concept to your Assembly Bill 639, which would expand the use of Proposition 12 money to assist veterans seeking multifamily housing. The voters of California approved bonds in 2000 (Proposition 32) and again in 2008 (Proposition 12) to help veterans purchase single family homes, farms and mobilehomes. However, some money from the first bond and all money from the latter bond remain unspent. We support efforts to look at the remaining unspent bond funds to help further the goals of the voters-- to house veterans. We would like you to work to ensure that the expansion of these funds resolves the under subscription of the program and provides much needed housing to veterans in a timely and efficient manner. AB 639 provides a unique opportunity to review the current Ca1Vet Home Loan Program as well as determine how a multifamily program for veterans would operate. For these reasons, the City of San Luis Obispo supports in concept AB 639.
