AB 532 would prevent over $8 million from being diverted from the Self -Help Housing Fund to the Local Housing Trust Fund Matching Grant program. The Local Housing Trust Fund Matching Grant Program provides dollar -for -dollar matching grants to cities, counties, or non- profit organizations that form a housing trust fund using local dollars. The program requires existing housing trust funds to provide a minimum match of $1 million and those that form new local housing trust funds to provide a minimum match of $500,000. While the funding for existing housing trust funds has been exhausted, over $8 million remains for newly formed trust funds. Without AB 532, the remaining funds are to be transferred to the Self -Help Housing Program. For the above reasons, the City of San Luis Obispo supports AB 532. Sincerely, rer Jan Marx Mayor Cc: Senator Kevin de Leon, Chair Senate Appropriates Committee, fax 916-327-8817 Senator Rill Monning, fax 916-445-8081 Assembly Member Katcho Achadjian, fax 916-319-2135 Ij City Council City Manager David Mullinax, League of California Cities Jerry Rioux, SLO County Housing Turst Fund, jeny@slochtf.org
