Re: Letter of Support for Reallocation of 5339(b) Funds for Maintenance Garage Project
Dear Representative Carbajal,
The San Luis Obispo Regional Transit Authority (RTA) has long been an operational and
strategic partner to the City of San Luis Obispo for delivering vital transportation services to
the area’s (c.) 280,000 residents. Collaborative efforts to build a regional Downtown Transit
Center have not come to fruition due to the current high commercial development climate
of the City. However, the City is also in support of a dedicated RTA Bus Maintenance Facility
Project as this too would bring regional benefits and support necessary transportation
services of the area.
As such, we wish to express that the City of San Luis Obispo is in concurrence with the RTA
request to FTA for the transfer all already awarded “Downtown T ransit Center Project” funds
to the more attainable “RTA Bus Maintenance Facility Project.”
Kind Regards,
Heidi Harmon
Mayor, Elected Official
