Subject:New neighbors at 1954 Cucaracha St. Cutting down Cedar trees in
their backyard!!
Greetings Advisory Bodies of SLO,
Hello I am a regular guest at the Marcotte residence and a very long time resident of San Luis
Obispo . I love the Central Coast very much that I decided to stay here after having attended Cal
Poly even though I grew up in Atascadero. I stayed for a reason, there aren't too many places
like SLO and it's sad to see that this little jewel of a town is turning into a mini Santa Barbara
which is not as beautiful as it once use to be. Admittedly the local voices are not being
heard and have been ignored for way too long . A perfect example is the construction on
Madonna Rd where these majestic beautiful Eucalyptus trees were ripped out. I don't agree
that it was necessary to tear the majority of them down and like many of the locals, we were
devastated to see this happen and quite possibly one of the many contributing factors to our
current never ending debates surrounding climate change. As a concerned citizen of SLO I wish
to contribute my part in voicing my opinion and I vehemently oppose the cutting down of these
precious Dedora Cedar trees. Why are they cutting these trees down? For the sake of building a
possible future rental unit?? I understand that progress is inevitable but where does it stop??
What justifies that these trees need to be cut down? They look like perfectly healthy
specimens and I'm sure they play a role no matter how minor in contributing to the local SLO
ecological wildlife, even if it's just one or two trees. I do hope you can take the time to look into
this and find a solution to preserve these beautiful trees and at the same time keep SLO from
turning into another concrete jungle.
Sincerely,
C Konye
