I have had a look at the packet for tonight’s Planning Commission meeting, and especially the project at 545 Higuera. Please consider these comments from me as a representative of the cycling community: 1. I see where minimums have been met for bike parking on site. Cool. I would add that any on- site (tenant) parking should include space for larger cargo bikes that will be a force in our community, and as e-bikes continue to gain popularity also, provision for their charging apparatus should be made. 2. I see in the rendering that the old-style racks are shown for visitors. These are not favored in the community of cyclists, and the newer, front/rear wheel capture designs produced locally are much more attractive in their utility. 3. I did not see a plan view showing the location of the visitors’ racks. As much up-front and center with ability to keep eyes on would also add to this and any project. More cyclists feel comfortable being able to see their rigs. And what: showcase cycling for all? Pretty cool! 4. And recall that cargo bikes are sometimes quite long. Adding space for their parking will also be more attractive to users, both those cycling in and those pedestrians passing by. Thank you! Cheers!
