To The Planning Commission and City Council of San Luis Obispo: We are SLO County residents concerned about the severe shortage of affordable and available housing in our area. The state of California has made it clear that encouraging ADUs and JADUs with a minimum of regulatory hoops to jump through is a way to help address the housing crisis, while helping communities. These units cost less to construct than apartment buildings and allow homeowners to be part of the solution without using scarce public funds. Many of the Commission's proposed ordinances regarding ADUs/JADUs are unnecessary and will make them much more difficult and more expensive to build, counter to the goals the state is trying to achieve. This is a cost our community cannot afford. Please keep the restrictions on ADUs/JADUs to the absolute minimum required by state laws. Thank you for your service to our community - and to our neighbors, who desperately need homes. Annie and Barbara Aquino Arroyo Grande, CA 93420 residents 1
