Subject:Please, no more parking restrictions
Dear Council Members,
I am writing today because I am not able to attend the City Council meeting on January 14th.
I am opposed to the proposed expansion of the parking district in my Monterey Heights neighborhood.
Parking here is always a challenge, but this would virtually make it impossible for me to welcome guests
or family at any time.
When I moved here 14 years ago this area was still a real neighborhood with one to two cars per family.
Now, those houses have 5 to 8 students living in them, and each student has a car or truck. At night,
when they’re home, we can barely fit through the streets. If we were to have an emergency and need an
ambulance or a fire truck, passage would be impossible. It is frightening and frustrating.
Perhaps the city needs to enforce the five students per residence requirements. This would certainly cut
down on the on-street parking.
I do not have the time to go to the city for extra parking stickers when we are going to have company. It
is untenable to think that this is being considered.
I ask the city council members to vote a resounding NO.
Thank you for your consideration,
Sharon Lovejoy
