Dear City Mayor and Council Members of the City of San Luis Obispo,
I am asking you to vote no on Item 15., Amendment to Public Art Policy and Procedures Manual, at the January 21,
2020 City Council Meeting. This Amendment would completely negate the beautiful project in process - the “Teddy
Roosevelt Project”
The language in this Amendment seems to me so narrow-minded, so counter to the creative, artistic spirit of the City,
that I feel sure you must have not understood how it seems to many of us to be a part of that “politically correct”
bullying so hated today. I feel sure you have just not thought this through, and will do so, and vote No.
As an early supporter of the Teddy Roosevelt project, I look forward to seeing its completion. I believe that in Paula Zima
we have a consummate, nationally acclaimed artist, native to the Central Coast, who has the right vision and abilities to
truly commemorate The day Teddy Roosevelt came to San Luis Obispo. What a great day! Let get on with this project!
