Subject:Flavored tobacco follow up
Hello SLO City Council -
Thank you for your attention to this item this evening and for moving forward with an ordnance around
the sale of e-cigarette products.
I want to bring to your attention (which I meant to mention in my public comment) that last week at the
Board of Supervisors meeting, the supervisors were concerned to learn that flavors are such a huge
factor in hooking kids to nicotine, vaping. In fact, they requested more education on the topic to
possibly bring forth a flavors ban.
I urge you to support and ask staff to continue to work with the County of SLO Public Health,
Tobacco Control as well as the Tobacco Control Coalition, of which ECOSLO is a member.
I thought you may want to make your staff aware of this as perhaps a flavors ban may be
coming and I believe it's important that the City of SLO has this on their radar.
