Dear Mayor Harmon and Council Members,
I would first like to thank you all for the opportunity to be a member of the Council Compensation
Committee. I really enjoyed the experience and I'm proud of the role I was able to play in coming up
with this recommendation.
The members of this Council are proud to be taking bold action on many things like climate change and
housing policy and I'm hoping you will all feel comfortable taking bold action on increasing Council
Compensation as it has been recommended to you. I want the great work of this Council to continue on
and the way to ensure that happens is by giving more people the opportunity to run. Increased
compensation is our only mechanism for changing the pool of potential candidates to continue to truly
represent the constituents of this city and making substantial changes to compensation can't wait any
longer. Please approve the recommended increases for the future of the positions you currently hold so
more people have the opportunity to make SLO a better place for all.
