Thank you! - Allan 1 Save Our Downtown ______________________________________________________________________________ Seeking to protect and promote the historical character, design, livability and economic success of downtown San Luis Obispo. To: San Luis Obispo City Council, Shelly Stanwyck and Richard Burde Re: February 19, 2020 Meeting: Item Number 15: Study Session On Mission Plaza Restroom Replacement And Café
From: Allan Cooper, Secretary Save Our Downtown Date: February 16, 2020 Honorable Mayor and Council Members - Save Our Downtown concurs with the October 7, 2019 Architectural Review Commission recommendations and the October 28, 2019 Cultural Heritage Committee recommendations as they pertain to the Mission Plaza restroom replacement and cafe. We are opposed to mobile food vendors from operating on the plaza due to the lack of control over the aesthetics of the food trucks and the likely conflict with the "look and feel" of the plaza. We also agree that a lighter color palate be implemented on the structures presented in the original RRM design. Finally, we share both commission’s concern that the cafe and restrooms do not “look like San Luis Obispo” and that the buildings should tie into the historic context of the area. Thank you!
