As a newcomer to Pickleball, I’ve been regularly playing at the French Park courts in SLO. These courts are fully impacted
with numerous players on an almost daily basis. There are many times we have to wait until we can get on to play, due
to the large numbers of players attending. I was made aware of a recommendation to limit this access and allow only
tennis at this venue. I don’t understand the logic, when the numbers show that Pickleball is attracting large groups of
players, versus the 2-4 who can utilize the court for tennis. I imagine someone has put this in motion, but clearly they
have not attended the games at the park to see the impact. I strongly urge you to not only continue to allow Pickleball
this access, but moreover, increase the use of this facility for Pickleball players. There are many wonderful tennis
courts—both public and private, available throughout this area, and only limited Pickleball courts. The group is doing a
good job attracting players here in SLO, without them having to go to Morro Bay or Cayucos or elsewhere just to get a
game.
Your genuine evaluation and concern for this matter is much appreciated,
