HomeMy WebLinkAbout3/4/2020 Item 4, Thom Wilbanks, Megan From:Frederick Thom < To:Advisory Bodies Subject:PRC Communication-Please add MORE Pickleball court hours! Dear SLO Parks and Recreation Commissioners, The pickle ball community in our city is huge. I believe that decisions regarding the allocation of court hours between the large and growing pickle ball community and the relatively minuscule tennis community should be governed by data. In a democracy the majority wins(most of the time ????). In our community there is a vast imbalance of interest in how these courts are being used. The PICKLEBALL community is the decided MAJORITY and therefore decisions regarding the use of these courts should favor pickleball and NOT the small number of possibly very vocal tennis advocates. Your mandate to serve our community must be predicated at least partially on the premise of encouraging the GREATEST NUMBER OF PEOPLE to become active, to spend time outdoors, to develop and maintain social contacts and to become healthier as a result. You can further these worthy goals by EXPANDING the access that the pickleball community has to courts throughout the city. Thank you for your consideration of my comments.
