HomeMy WebLinkAbout3/4/2020 Item 4, Neal, Lynn Wilbanks, Megan From:Lynn Neal < To:Advisory Bodies Subject:PRC Communication To Whom it May Concern: I have been playing Pickleball for about 4 years now mostly in cities outside of San Luis Obispo (even though I live here) due to the lack of designated courts in the past. Now that there are a few more courts and a full Pickleball schedule here in San Luis I am able to play here more often. Whenever I am at the courts, the upper (permanents) and the lower (temporaries) are all full with people waiting to rotate in. I can’t imagine why in the world the city would want to limit the play here, driving Pickleball enthusiasts to other cities in the County to play. I consistently drive to Morro Bay, Cambria, Templeton, Paso Robles and Pismo Beach to find courts to play. I am 63 years old and haven’t ever been involved in any other sport (except running) until I found Pickleball which has changed my life in so many ways. I have a community of Pickleball friends, it is super fun to play, it keeps me in shape and brings so much joy to my life I can’t even express fully how it has changed my life for the better. I plan on playing for the next 20 years (my 85 year old Mother still plays) and I am hoping I don’t have to keep driving to other cities to do so. The current schedule is working and, whenever Pickleball players aren’t on the courts, rarely are there any tennis players there. I have been playing for almost 4 years now and have only seen a handful of tennis players on those courts in all that time: there is frequent wind there and the lower courts echo and they aren’t the most desirable tennis courts in SLO.
