Subject:dog park in slo
I am out of town and unable to attend tonight's meeting.
I moved to SLO 9 years ago from Orange County. There are dog parks in almost every city
down south and they are flourishing. After moving here, I was shocked and saddened to not
have a dog park to go to with my pup. I tried going to Laguna Lake, but after a pit bull that
belonged to a homeless man in the area came charging toward my small dog, taking another
small dog into it's mouth, then dropping it and running off to meet it's owner, I decided this
wasn't the place for us to be.
Dog parks are a great way to bring together a community of people with a common
interest. Segregated dog parks allow us to take our pup to the park for some play time without
the worry that a large dog will come charging out of nowhere. Likewise, people with large dogs
(typically over 25 pounds) can take their pup to play with other dogs in that same range.
It is comfortable, fun and social. It is also a great way to build community among other dog
lovers. It is a great way to make friends and also start dog meet ups with others who may have
the same breed.
My french bulldog and I would absolutely love a place to go that's clean and safe. With our
growing community, that is also known for its' dog friendly atmosphere, and dog park would be
a wonderful addition!
Thank you,
Maria Soles
