Pickleball has so many community benefits- it gets people out into the community, provides mild athletic activity for individuals of all ages who aren't otherwise physically active, and provides a social opportunity for many who might otherwise be house-bound. The Pickleball courts at French Park are a genuine community asset, are appreciated by all who come out to play. They are a sterling example of the City of SLO's dedication to its citizens. Players of other sports such as tennis might complain about not getting 100% of court time, but in fact the current dedicated Pickleball hours are always very busy and full of players. No other sport can match that effective use of time and limited space for a sport. Pickleball is also growing in popularity both locally and nationwide. When I do go to the courts, it is always charming to see younger players actively playing too. As a senior now, I definitely appreciate the opportunity to get outside for a bit of physical activity, and the chance to interact socially with other players, in what would otherwise be an increasingly solitary life. Please DO NOT reduce the dedicated time set aside for Pickleball use of the French Park courts- they are excellent and essential to so many of us! Please vote NO on any proposal to reduce the hours. Thanks for your dedication to a good, healthy SLO lifestyle. Paul H. Allen- 191 Luneta Drive, SLO (805) 544-2306. pallen3@sbcglobal.net 1
