Subject:French Park Pickleball
Due to a last minute family matter, I will not be able to attend today’s meeting.
Thereby, I am sending this message that I am disappointed in the decision that the Rec n Parks
Department is looking to make concerning the tennis court at French Park with respect to the use of it
by pickleball players.
I have now been a resident of San Luis Obispo for a year and a half and have enjoyed playing pickle ball
at French Park shortly after arriving here. During that time, over the course of my playing most of the
days of Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, I can honestly say that I have seen tennis
players there on perhaps five or less occasions during my short relocation to this great community. The
people I have met through pickleball has improved many aspects of my life and has reinforced my
decision to move here.
Your Rec n Parks Department's possible decision to restrict the use of the French Park tennis court, that
does not seems to get much use for a vast majority of the year in my personal observation, does not fit
with my opinion of what is right or appropriate for this community. I hope and trust that you all will
make the appropriate decision to allow the continued use of the tennis court by pickleball persons,
rather than to allow a few misguided persons to restrict the use of it and allow the court to sit idle.
