i am a grower at the farmers markert and have been for 20 years . I can't make the meetin g
today because i am busy saving my cherry crop . But I want it known that I think th e
farmers should run the farmers market like they always have, and have done a fine an d
fair job of it . i dont think theDA really knows the rules and regulations , the ins and out s
and the ups and downs that pertain to the farmer section of the market . With no har d
feelings or anything towards the DA, they should run the swap meet section and leav e
the farming to us . I am wondering what the big deal is about the DA running it all of a
sudden after all these years . Just let the DA run their part ,and the farmers run their par t
and leave it at that . I am sure we have all made a mistake or two in our lives but tha t
doesnt mean that someone else is going to take our lives over to change it and make i t
different Farming is my life and I dont want changes in the market . The farmersmarke t
association need the income of that market to survive and we all know how hards that ca n
be . I could go on and on but to the point LET THE FARMERS RUN THE FARMER S
MARKET Do we have to get on our knees and beg for you people to see our side of thi s
situation . Thak you for the chance to give my opinion

Dear City Council Members ,
I wanted to voice my opinion on the Farmers Market Decision . I feel that it is ver y
important that we support local farmers . I have lived in San Luis Obispo my entire lif e
and I go to Farmers Market very often . It has saddened me to see the decline in farmer s
that grow locally . It seems that they should be the first ones given the option to sell thei r
produce at a local market . I have even visited and talked with local farmers who don't
feel that they were welcomed enough at the San Luis Obispo Market by the SLO Farmer s
association/committee (although from what i understand it is mostly one or two people )
and that they felt they were trying to impede their ability to sell even though they wer e
SLO FARMERS! I am in support of the downtown association which will be mor e
willing to allow people to apply and will give priority to the local farmers while stil l
allowing everyone to be on a waiting list . It is the only way to ensure that the farmer s
market I grew up with and love will continue to function . I am a SLO grown boy and I
feel very close to this town and many of its aspects and I hope you feel the same way .
Sincerely,
Daniel Pfau
