Everyone I have talked with seems to be in agreement that Dan Carpenter i s the right person for the job . First off he was just short of being elected which speaks for itself secondl y he is and always has been a part of the fabric of our city . Born and raised here he has deep roots, is no t leaving anytime soon, has nothing but the best intentions for the well being of everyone living here an d the management of our city. There is no one else that comes close to his qualifications for the job . You have my vote the vote of my family as well as the support of many folks that I know support Dan i n the community . Frequently such endorsements come from the outside looking in on a candidate's qualifications . I have had the pleasure of working directly for Ms Andree n during the many years she served on the San Luis Coastal School District Board . During those years, Ms Andreen faced some of the most difficult challenges encountere d by our school district - the reduction of funding, the closing of schools, and th e reconstitution of the administrative team . Ms Andreen's openness to community input, disciplined exploration of alternatives an d skillful leadership in framing and guiding difficult decisions were remarkable . Nobody enjoyed what needed to be done, but there was consensus respect for the process b y which the public's business was handled . A circumstance full of the potential fo r fragmentation and division became a model for public decision-making . Ms Andreen will bring that same intelligence and heart to our city, which faces simila r challenges in the months and years ahead . I have the greatest respect for our city leader s and would support without reservation the addition of Patricia Andreen to the SLO Cit y Council . ceetJ0.41.T.Vo./e.m.t.;II/ Ed Valentine Former Superintendent, San Luis Coastal Unified School District
