As someone whose family uses the biking and walking areas of our city on a daily basis, I would like to see the city add more protected bike lanes, create additional separate and protected areas for people to bike and walk throughout the city, as well as continuing to change our streets to make them more people oriented especially around the school locations. My two teenage children are now biking and walking more and more by themselves for their transportation. I believe that the safer we can make biking and walking in our city, the safer they will be and the more kids will join them in using other modes of transportation besides cars. Several years ago I was highly involved in the Safe Routes to School program in town. There have most definitely been some improvements made on the roads since I began working with that program, and I honestly do see more kids biking and walking to and from school than when I was involved in that work (around 2009- 2012). It would be so encouraging to see the city continue their dedication to improving the biking and walking areas of town so that even more people get out of their cars and can more safely travel by foot or bike. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Sarah Ritter 1
