I've also heard that the council is considering putting a measure on the ballot that would increase the sales tax rate in San Luis Obispo. Such an increase would make an already precariously expensive city even more expensive, and would do so in part on the backs of our most vulnerable community members. Especially if you have hundreds of thousands of dollars of "discretionary" funds that you can consider spending on non- essential projects, you have no business taking money away from families that are scraping to get by in these perilous times. Please consider that the money you consider to be discretionary and extra is money that came from the earnings of people who may have had to make real sacrifices to give it up, and treat that money with the respect appropriate to this. -- David Gross San Luis Obispo 1
