Absolutely first: stay well! Our City needs you! Second: stay well! Ok then. Consent Agenda: Items 5-9: Yay. And thanks for offering your time and consideration on the other items. Regular Agenda: Item 15: You should hear a lot of requests to allocate budget surpluses to things cycling and pedestrian in our city. Please allow me to add my vote for this also, as you’d expect! Supporting more out-of-automobile experiences will better serve our community and help us reach our Climate Action goals. And, AND: people I see are demonstrably more pleasant, happier, when we can reach out a waving hand, offer a nod, and a vocal how d’you do, all actions difficult from within a vehicle, and superbly suited to cycling and walking! From Bike SLO County’s advocacy, please know I support Quick Build projects: • adding protected bike lanes • shortening pedestrian crossings • implementing measures to slow vehicle traffic to safer speeds • creating separated and protected places for people biking, walking, and taking transit • making our streets more people-oriented • pursuing very aggressive timelines to build out our core bicycle network, and • creating the safest experience for all roadway users Thank you for working toward these ideals. Let us know how we can support you! Item 16: Annexation. As you consider this, I am concerned, because I’m without benefit of education, that the requirements of this County project might not match those of our city, especially with respect to meeting our Climate Action goals, and multimodality goals. I’m guessing that there’s a vehicle (and not one burning hydrocarbons!) to bring another entity’s projects up to our standards, and I hope you’ll be employing that here, certainly with respect to cycling and pedestrian infrastructure. And I’ll always support going the extra mile to add a little more than required minimums. Thanks for all you do to support San Luis Obispo, and our neighbors in the County. It makes a difference! Cheers! Gary Havas Board President, Bike SLO County 805-458-0755 gphavas6953@gmail.com 1 2
