At the City Council meeting of October 4, 2011, John Polk, President of
Los Verdes Park II, HOA requested permission to cede his 3 minutes allowed for
comment to Sarah Flickinger, President of Los Verdes Park I HOA. That request
was granted.
Subsequently Linda Goo, a resident of Los Verdes Park II, requested
permission to cede her 3 minutes allowed for remarks to Darrell Goo, resident of
Los Verdes Park II, that request was denied.
Why the difference? It was stated by Mayor Marx that the City Council
governs their meetings differently than the County Board of Supervisors
regarding granting permission to speakers to donate their 3 minutes to another
speaker. However, it appears the City Council rules, at the same meeting, on the
same issue, vary from person to person.
I would predict that if the Mayor does not apply the rules in an even-
handed and fair manner to her constituents they will not long be her
constituents.
