Thank you, Kylie Clark (she, her, hers) ASI Board of Directors, College of Liberal Arts Associated Students Incorporated California Polytechnic State University 1 Grand Ave. San Luis Obispo, CA 93407-0675 asi.calpoly.edu 1 Hi, Council! My name is Kylie Clark and I am a resident of San Luis Obispo as well as a student at Cal Poly. First of all, I want to thank each of you for your hard work and leadership during this unprecedented time. We are so lucky to have you as leaders of our wonderful city and your dedication and effort does not go unnoticed. I want to speak to you today about the proposed resolution to adopt a Safety Enhancement Zone. I understand that many of those who have been breaking the shelter in place regulations are younger-aged adults, some of whom are likely students. As a student, I want to reinforce how important it is that these rules are being followed for the safety of all community members. I would also like to thank you for finding ways to ensure that everyone is respecting these rules and I hope that this Safety Enhancement Zone helps to make this happen. Additionally, please remember that many students are not returning to San Luis Obispo in order to protect the community and many are also unable to go home because it is not safe or possible for them, but are following the shelter in place order. Student Government is working to encourage our peers to accept their social responsibility, stay inside, and be a part of the solution rather than the problem, and I am glad y’all are working to ensure this is the case throughout the entire city. Last, I wanted to let you know that I will still be virtually attending all meetings and that you can reach out if you ever need help connecting with students or generating ideas. Thank you for all you do and stay safe and healthy. All the best, Kylie
