Subject: Clean Energy Choice Program for New Buildings postponement
Morning Chris,
We wanted to reach out to you to let you know that while the Climate Coalition is disappointed in the City's decision to
postpone the Clean Energy Choice Program for New Buildings, we understand the urgency to focus on the current crisis.
That said, the climate crisis remains a hugely important issue that requires continued leadership, and in times like this
we see the road to recovery deeply intertwined with building climate resilience. If this pandemic teaches us anything
about what must be done to deal with the climate crisis, it's that we need to become skilled in both addressing
immediate emergent crises while keeping our heads up working to address the root causes of the bigger crises. I am
confident that the fossil fuel industry, their astroturf groups and their lobbyists have not stopped working against
climate progress during this time.As plans develop to meet these new challenges, the Climate Coalition is ready to work
alongside you.
We are interested to understand if there were any communications to the City from the fossil fuel industry ahead of the
City's decision to postpone the Clean Energy Choice Program for New Buildings. Will you please send me any relevant
communications from the Utility Workers Union, their astro‐turf group Californian's for Balanced Energy Solutions, and
any other related groups/individuals that might help us to better understand with transparency the concerns of those
opposed to moving this program forward?
Best,
Eric
