I have owned the property for over 30 years and one of the things that attracted me to the property was the wonderful tree canopy over the street. It is on par with Mill and Branch Streets. Although I recognize a property owners issue with a particular species of tree, I hope that the effect the mature eucalyptus tree has on the street canopy will be considered as much as the hassle of the messiness of the tree to the property owner. Removing that tree will leave a giant hole in the street canopy. The owner at 1061 Islay wants to replace a potentially diseased Evergreen Pear with a Crepe Myrtle. The property owner should be required to select the cultivar (“Muskogee” or “Tuscarora”) that will grow to 22’ to 25’ tall and be consistent with the scale of the street tree canopy. Hopefully the two evergreen Pear trees in front of my property at 1029 Islay will return to good health too! Thank you, Garth Kornreich 1
