Subject:Masks
As a resident of SLO, I am reaching out in opposition of mandating any mask or face covering. I feel
there is inadequate data to support such a mandate and is an overreach of government.
Should a mask or face covering mandate be established, I question the legality, in addition to the
logistics of implementing such a policy. Does the city plan to provide residents with said mask/face
covering? Who will pay for this and with what money? What will be the fine? How will staff be able to
identify if someone is 18+ or 21+ years of age based on foreheads and eyeballs (unless of course one
removes the mask but if they have to remove the mask, then is it truly essential per “health and
safety”)? What if you have a medical exemption?
Mandating masks is an overreach and I sincerely hope the city of San Luis Obispo proceeds with reason
and caution, as opposed to safety virtue signaling.
In a time when we are supposed to be easing restrictions, as we’ve managed to flatten the curve, why
are we pushing for more regulations?
Sincerely,
Amanda
