Good afternoon:
I would like to bring your attention to a dangerous tree situation in downtown San Luis Obispo. This tree is located
next to a home that we own at 664 Monterey Street and the city parking lot next door.
This tree is pulling up the sidewalk in the area and city crews are presently working on the sidewalk itself but do
not seem to be doing anything about the tree that is the cause of the damage. The tree is massive and never
seems to get trimmed by the city.
If a branch were to break off the tree and hit someone, it could easily kill them.
This is not the first time that we have contacted your agency regarding this tree. Nothing has ever been done to
remove/care for the tree. The tree currently stretches all the way across the street to the opposite corner.
I think it is imperative that the city take a good look at this tree and completely remove it from the area before it
does any further damage. It is an accident waiting to happen.
I will be virtually attending the next meeting of the Tree Committee on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 and expect to
see this tree removal considered in your public comment portion of the meeting. It is of paramount importance
that you do something regarding this tree immediately before it causes any danger to people or property.
