Subject:In support of expanded dining
Good evening City Council,
I am third generation restaurateur and previously owned Chino’s in the Downtown Centre SLO for 8 years. I am now
founder and CEO of CheddrSuite Restaurant Management software based out of San Luis Obispo. I have been doing a
weekly webinar series “Restaurant Recovery” that has attracted industry experts to help support and offer resources to
the restaurant industry in order to get through this pandemic. We are not the only city considering this type of
assistance to the industry. San Mateo Mayor has enacted this assistance as well.
Did you know that 70% of restaurants are owned by “mom and pop” which own one or two locations? The National
Restaurant Association recent polls show that 4 out of 5 restaurants will close their doors within the year if limited to
50% capacity.
I am in full support of allowing restaurants to use any space available by the city to make up for their 50% occupancy
restrictions. Restaurant owners are resilient and will respect any help given to them during these times. These
businesses pay a good amount of tax to our city and should have our support during these times. Please help!
