SLO City Council,
I would like to express my concern at some of the elements of the “Open SLO” proposal currently up for vote by the
council. I do not think closing off the streets downtown will attract more shoppers and diners. Historically the closing of
downtown streets has resulted in the death of downtown commerce not an increase. I constantly hear those who don’t
live downtown complain about coming downtown and not being able to park. For example, a shopper who wants to to
park and make a quick purchase may have to end up parking in a garage several blocks away. This may encourage
frustrated individuals to take their business elsewhere.
Please do the right thing for downtown businesses and note no on this plan.
