Subject:Support Open SLO
Hello City Council,
We are writing in support of the Open SLO concept to use the right of way and other public space to create more space
for safer dining and safer use of downtown during COVID-19. We would strongly encourage incentivizing this for
restaurants that are adjacent to available outside space. If they are encouraged to have outdoor dining instead of or at a
closer distance than indoors that would be great. Having this type of option will bring us downtown to dine sooner than
if this isn't put in place. For now we will only be doing take out.
Our support is also because this program would implement the Downtown Concept Plan and other City Plans. We
believe that dedicating some downtown streets for non-motorized vehicles some or all of the time would economically
benefit our downtown during the pandemic and the rest of the time. This is an opportunity to test that theory while we
have health goals to achieve in addition to all other existing goals.
