Esteemed council and mayor,
I support the goals of Item 1, Open SLO, and urge you consider adoption of this plan. The Covid pandemic presents us
with challenges but also opportunities to make SLO Streets better for all users.
I'm particularly interested in:
Temporarily restriping Higuera (Santa Rosa to Nipomo) to two (2) traffic lanes, converting the outside travel lane
to a buffered bike lane.
the creation temporary pedestrian plazas for walking, biking, outdoor dining and physical distancing.
Utilizing Mission Plaza and other City-owned surface parking lots at set times for public use.
Converting selected on-street parking spaces downtown to “parklets”.
Temporary partial closure of select neighborhood streets to thru traffic using low-cost temporary traffic control.
