Subject:Proposed Commercial structures at 545 Higuera
This message concerns item 12 and the proposed Luxury Apartment and Hotel at 545 Higuera Street in
San Luis Obispo.
The San Luis Obispo Community Design Guidelines specifically states that we should protect the scale
and character of Historic Neighborhoods.
The proposed structures if allowed, I believe would significantly impact the aesthetic and historic quality
of this working class neighborhood in a very negative way. I think the SLO Community residents deserve
the right to keep the beloved character of their historic neighborhood in tact and in many cases that is
why our residents live and move to this community in the first place.
The SLO Design Guidelines also state that large single structures should be avoided.
This structure is too large and too out of character to be allowed in this Historic area of San Luis and will
change the distinctive nature of the neighborhood forever.
My family has resided in the San Luis Obispo County since 1957 and we want our community to evolve
in a thoughtful and well planned way. Please rethink this proposal and abide by the Community Design
Guidelines.
