HomeMy WebLinkAbout6/2/2020 Item 12, Jiminez, Mario Wilbanks, Megan From:Mario Jiminez < To:E-mail Council Website Subject:545 Higuera SLO City Council, My name is name is Mario Jiminez and my wife Sherry Jiminez has owned Salon 544 for the last 16 years which is located at 544 Higuera St. I am opposed to the development at 545 Higuera. The reasoning is, the city has violated its own community design guidelines That infill residential development should be compatible and scale, siting, detailing, and overall character with adjacent buildings. The height of infill projects should be consistent with surrounding residential structures. New development should respect the privacy of adjacent residential uses so that windows do not overlook or repair the privacy of indoor or outdoor living space adjacent units. Multi family structures should be set back with the prevailing setback pattern of immediate neighborhood. The structure with three or more attached units should incorporate significant wall and roof articulation to reduce appearance scale. Large projects should be broken up into groups or structures. “Should” language is intended to be followed unless there are specific extenuating circumstances, neither developer nor city has presented any extenuating circumstances. The guidelines were adopted to prevent big box developments making slow look like“Anywhere USA “. Once again, I am opposed to the 545 Higuera Street project.
