Re: Item 12: The 545 Higuera Development
During the past seven years my wife and I have frequently visited family and friends in San Luis Obispo.
Although we live on the opposite side of the United States, a surprisingly large number of our
acquaintances here in the New York-Philadelphia-Washington corridor know about San Luis and
comment on its beauty, history, and charm.
I am familiar with the neighborhood around the proposed 545 Higuera development. I believe that
allowing construction of this complex to proceed would have a hugely detrimental effect on the area. I
have to believe there are other places within a reasonable distance of the currently planned site that
would be more suitable and less intrusive than the one where the developers want to build. Surely,
some other location within the city limits could be just as economically rewarding to the investors.
Beauty. History. Charm. Please don’t make a decision that will forever detract from the character of
your remarkable city.
