"I would like to address the reactionary force that was used by the San Luis Obispo area Police Department during the peaceful protest on June 1, 2020. The actions taken by the PD were
inappropriate and harmful to the community. There are several healthy ways to address peaceful protesters, and using force via tear gas and rubber bullets is not one of them. I am disappointed
in the actions of the SLO area PD, as they had an opportunity to make change and do better. I hope the PD takes action to restore, communicate and collaborate with the community in
ways that fight systemic/policy-based racism and police brutality. Thank you for your time."
