I am writing to request that the City Council and Mayor Harmon ask for the release of body camera footage of the dispersal of the protest on the night of June 1. Judging from the statements
given by Police Chief Cantrell at today's press conference and the statements made by protesters, there is confusion about the exact events that took place. Body camera footage would
increase the transparency around this event. The San Luis Obispo Police policies and procedures state that recording may be viewed by media personnel with permission of the Chief of
Police or her designee. I ask that this be done and the public be informed as much as possible.
