Dear City Council,
My name is Elizabeth Withers and I am a resident of San Luis Obispo and a student at Cal Poly.
In light of the events regarding George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and countless other victims killed from our racist criminal
justice system, I ask that in today’s review of the 2020-21 budget you reallocate funds directed towards the police
department towards other causes like community development or specific diversity, equity, inclusive line items.
This is a small request to begin address the massive inequities and systems of oppression, but it is a start. Thank you for
your consideration.
