We have a vibrant neighborhood of residents, business owners and workers known as the Chorro Street Irregulars. We're the only neighborhood in town older than North Higuera. Back when the Hotel SLO was proposed, it was supposed to be five stories. Even at three stories it looms over us, but it's not as bad as five would be, and it's farther from us than 545 Higuera would be from Jean Martin’s historic house. We heard the Copelands proposed it at five stories assuming it would be cut down farther, but the city doesn't seem to do that anymore. Please have some empathy for those of us who curate historic houses in historic neighborhoods for the good of the whole community and its visitors. Sincerely, Alex Gough & Anne Gough
