The first point is to you most of you for showing support to our Public Safety personnel for how they handled and explained the events of the past week. Most of you didn’t make comments
that would side with a constituent base and try to separate from City management. In fact, I think most of your comments helped to encourage protesters while support our Public Safety.
It seems that there’s a ground swell to defund our Police Department. While most of you realize that 1. There is no need as our PD have conducted themselves professionally and compassionately
in most situations. 2. Our quality of life would be at risk with out the checks (protesting) and balance (Public safety protecting our rights and property).
I’m curious how many of the requests to defund the PD came from our City and County residents. We obviously won’t know the motives behind the folks not living here, but all the same
it’d be nice to know.
In closing I thank the Public Safety management team for their excellent leadership, the leaders and demonstrators for their roll in delivering their message while respecting the citizens
of our Community, and most of you for showing support of the Staff in walking the fine line of rights and safety.
