Your letter contains baseless and inflammatory accusations against City Construction Engineering Manager, Manny Guzman. Mr. Guzman’s June 4, 2020 letter to you and your contractor, Mr. Williams, was a professional letter that addresses specific issues and questions you raised in your emails of May 26, 2020 and May 27, 2020 and attempts to address and clarify specific non-compliant items for your project that do not meet adopted City Standards. The references in Mr. Guzman’s letter to your contractor and his brother, Mark Williams, who is a City inspector, were simply factual references to contacts with these individuals in response to specific questions and issues raised by you in your emails and, with regard to Mark Williams, to clarify that Ben Marquart is the City inspector responsible for inspection of the work done in the public right of way in connection with your project. City staff have attempted, and will continue to attempt, to work with you and your contactor to identify issues on the project that need to be addressed to assist you in moving the project to completion in conformance with the conditions of approval and applicable City Standards. That has been, and remains to be, the only goal of City staff in their interactions with you regarding your project. City staff remains committed to helping you and your contractor understand the conditions of approval and the applicable City Standards, to identify and work with you to correct any areas of non-compliance and to address any other issues or questions that come up. As noted by Mr. Guzman in his letter, he is available to address any questions you have regarding the issues of non-compliance. Mr. Marquart is available as well. You and your contractor are encouraged to work with City staff to address and correct the identified issues of non-compliance with adopted City standard so your project can move forward towards final approval. The City would like to see your project completed and will continue to make sure that all standards applicable to any project in the City are applied to your project as well. Sincerely, Mark Amberg Assistant City Attorney C: Derek Johnson, City Manager
