Majority people in our community demand use of gas in their homes. Requiring new development piping in gas to pay a fee, and or to install electric service capacity with specified sufficient amperage connections, wiring, and space for future required all-electric system connections is costly, unnecessary, and is shameful. In my verbal discussions with people of this community, not one has found required electrification for new buildings worthwhile. The council is failing to go about this in an appropriate manner. The solution is to go after gas at the production end, not at the end-user. Southern California Gas Co. has made it clear that it is discovering new methods and technologies to harness and make renewable gas a reality. Knowing this to be the case, the council’s penalizing a preferred energy choice of a homeowner by strapping further costly requirements is wrong, pure and simple. Let people be free to choose without paying these in-leu extortion costs. Last, exempting this ordinance for commercial kitchens shows preferential treatment and again displays hypocrisy at its finest. I am not happy with this type of leadership. Move this item to a later date allowing us to protest in person, please. Dale Ginder
