Subject:Defunding the Police
Hello Mayor and SLO City Councilmembers,
I am writing you tonight to advocate for the defunding of the police. I do not feel comfortable with my taxpayer dollars
going to a service that makes my Black neighbors feel unsafe.
Instead of funding the police department, I would like to see this sizable chunk of funds reallocated to community
services: things that can better our community and help reduce crime in the first place.
I want to see a version of public safety that does not use police. They don't work for us anymore. We have recognized
their faults and no longer will accept their violence. Defund the police.
