ROLL CALL Present: Commissioners, Renoda Campbell Abe Lincoln, Drew Littlejohns, Jeannette Richardson, Emily Rosten, Megan Souza, and Nancy Welts Absent: None Staff: Cara Vereschagin, Housing Coordinator; Teresa Purrington, City Clerk ELECTION OF CHAIR AND VICE CHAIR ACTION: MOTION BY COMMISSIONER ROSTEN, SECOND BY COMMISSIONER LINCOLN, 7-0-0 to elect Commissioner Welts as Chair and Commissioner Littlejohns as Vice Chair. PUBLIC COMMENT FOR ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA None --End of Public Comment-- APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1.Consideration of Minutes of the Regular Human Relations Commission Meeting of March 4, 2020. ACTION: MOTION BY CHAIR WELTS, SECOND BY COMMISSIONER SOUZA, 7-0-0 to approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Human Relations Commission of March 4, 2020. City of San Luis Obispo, Title, Subti tle Minutes Human Relations Commission Meeting of May 6, 2020 Page 2 BUSINESS ITEMS 2.Preliminary 2020-21 Grants-in-Aid (GIA) Subcommittee Funding Recommendations Commissioners Lincoln and Richardson presented the preliminary funding recommendations for the 2020-21 GIA program and explained the methodology they utilized to develop the recommendations. STAFF & COMMISSION COMMUNICATIONS 3.Staff Updates Housing Coordinator Vereschagin announced that the San Luis Obispo Urban County would be receiving some additional Federal funding through the Community Development Block Grant program to prevent, prepare for, and respond to COVID-19. She also directed the Commission to utilize ReadySLO.org for most up-to-date information related to COVID-19, including the County’s START Guide for reopening. Lastly, she discussed the Agenda Forecast for the upcoming meetings. 4.Commissioner Updates Commissioner Rosten shared she reached out to various non-profits regarding the COVID- 19 response and impacts to their respective organizations. She announced that she was happy to lend an ear and proud to be an HRC Commissioner. Chair Welts reminded the Commission to complete the 2020 Census. ADJOURNMENT Chair Welts adjourned the meeting at 6:39 p.m. The next Regular meeting of the Human Relations Commission is scheduled for Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at 5:00 p.m., via teleconference.
