Regular Meeting of the Human Relations Commission
CALL TO ORDER
A Regular Meeting of the San Luis Obispo Human Relations Commission was called to order on
Wednesday, February 5 at 5: 14 p.m. in the Council Hearing Room, located at 990 Palm Street,
San Luis Obispo, California, by Chair Welts.
ROLL CALL
Present: Commissioners Renoda Campbell, Abe Lincoln, and Chair Nancy Welts
Absent: Commissioners Bill Crewe, Jeannette Richardson, Emily Rosten, and Vice
Chair Michael Hopkins
Staff: Cara Vereschagin, Housing Coordinator
--There being no quorum present, the meeting continued only with items on the Agenda that
did not include an action of the Commission--

CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES
1.Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Human Relations Commission of December 4,
2019.
Skipped due to absence of quorum.
PRESENTATIONS
2.Summary and Update of Recent Housing Legislation
Housing Coordinator Vereschagin gave a presentation on recently passed State housing
legislation and discussed action items and anticipated impacts to ensure ongoing compliance
with City of San Luis Obispo operations.

3.Assign Subcommittee to Review 2020-21 Grants-in-Aid Applications

STAFF & COMMISSION COMMUNICATIONS
5.Staff Updates
Vereschagin discussed two recent Affordable Housing Fund awards the City Council approved
for two new 100% affordable housing projects being developed by Peoples' Self-Help Housing
(PSHH). She also talked about the recently submitted Affordable Housing Sustainable
Communities grant by PSHH for additional funding to support the Tiburon Place affordable
housing project and new transportation amenities.
6.Commissioner Updates
Chair Welts talked about the SLO Forward program and announced that a presentation will be
given to the HRC at an upcoming meeting. She also mentioned that Cal Poly recently
published data from their CPX Survey which might prove helpful for the HRC's diversity and
inclusion efforts.
Commissioner Campbell announced that her artwork was being featured at the
upcoming February "Art After Dark" event.
ADJOURNMENT
Chair Welts adjourned the meeting at 6:27 p.m. The next Regular meeting of the Human Relations
Commission is scheduled for Wednesday, March 4 at 5:00 p.m., in the Council Hearing Room,
990 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo, California.
