Item #1 CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES 1.Minutes of the Human Relations Commission meeting of June 3, 2020. __________________________________________________ Recommendation: Approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Human Relations Commission of June 3, 2020. Item #2 BUSINESS ITEM 2.Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Taskforce Discussion __________________________________________________ Recommendation: Discuss the formation of a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Taskforce and develop next steps for community outreach and input. Acts as an Advisory Body to the City Council, with a mission to: “Improve the climate of human relations and the human condition by advocating equal opportunity for access to community resources for all residents of the City of San Luis Obispo” Review all grant applications and make funding recommendations for City Council Grants-in-Aid (GIA) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Funding Allocation Item #2 –Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Task Force Discussion The Role of the Human Relations Commission “Identify and implement policies and procedures to encourage greater social and economic diversity in the City” Key Tasks a.Review and make changes to the HRC’s Bylaws and other Advisory Body Bylaws as necessary b.Explore partnerships with stakeholder groups, including the Diversity Coalition of SLO County, RACE Matters, PACT Item #2 –Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Task Force Discussion HRC Goals for 2019-21: Diversity, Equity & Inclusivity HRC Progress on Diversity, Equity, Inclusivity Efforts Formation of Subcommittee: Chair Nancy Welts & Commissioner Renoda Campbell 2019 Community Needs Workshop to solicit community feedback on $20,000 GF Allocation Initial Stakeholder Outreach to help identify existing needs and challenges in the City pertaining to DEI & best avenues to expend the GF Allocation: Diversity Coalition SLO County SLO PACT SLO Chamber of Commerce City PCC Advisory Body Item #2 –Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Task Force Discussion Item #2 PUBLIC COMMENT Public Comment: •Verbal Public Comment ➢Participants of the webinar: •Submit a ‘question’that includes your name and item number (or public comment)for the item you would like to speak on. •Once public comment for the item is called, your microphone will be unmuted and you will have three minutes to speak. •You can also click the “Raise Hand”icon to signal that you would like to speak.
