To Members of the Planning Commission re. July 8th Meeting and Item
#2 1144 Chorro Street
As a concerned resident of San Luis Obispo, I endorse the points presented for your consideration by Allan Cooper in hs
letter to you.
He points out that the height entitlements are a form of pressure that is not needed for detached judgment about long
term consequences and precedent. Objections over shared quarters in laundry and kitchen areas, corridors, and small
unit sizes crowded into that shared space are not to be dismissed given the new concerns over pandemic living space.
This is not a time for hurried concession making, but rather deliberative rethinking. While the Jamestown developers
must be impatient to move forward, they would be well advised to accommodate the new thinking on Post-
pandemic/Future Pandemic living. There remains the further objection of the rent value of the units proposed and the
market they are meant to serve. Affordable housing in our current uncertain economy is likely to remain the urgent
need, and the definition of what is affordable yet more modest.
Respectfully, Genevieve Czech, 612 Stanford Drive, San Luis Obipo
