Subject:Removal of James Papp from CHC
The last few years I’ve grown concerned about the “break neck speed” of development in the city. I’m all for “work
force housing” but I also know that there are design guidelines that are being ignored in the interest of speed. This is
why we need city commissions and committees—so that there are checks and balances AND an opportunity for public
input on these changes .
In the last 10 years I’ve attended many commission meetings and the Cultural Heritage Committee (which should be a
commission) in order to express my support and concerns about certain projects around town. The CHC offers a
platform for tax payers to have input on how our historic city develops. It is my experience that James Papp speaks for
the people and I applaud his passion in holding developers accountable to the guidelines.
It is a widely held opinion that this city and council are more committed to development than they are to hearing what
the tax paying public want for our town. James Papp speaks with integrity and passion. I urge you to keep him in his
current position on CHC as he speaks for many of us who love our historic city. Last time I checked this country stood for
free speech.

Letter to San Luis Obispo City Council
Once again the city council and city staff are showing they are firmly in the pocket of mostly L.A.
developers. I am taking about the plans to remove James Papp from the Cultural Heritage
Committee. If Papp is removed we will surely let voters know what’s going on for the next
election.
It’s time residents took back control of this city. They will be told who was behind Mr. Papp’s
removal. Such removal will be just further proof that city overpaid staff and the city council are
letting developers, mostly from L.A., control the growth and development of San Luis Obispo.
If Mr. Papp is removed you will pay at the ballot box. The tax payers are watching.
